Systems Engineer

Overview Stellar Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a recent 2023 college graduate in its Department of Defense (DoD) sector. We are looking for a self-starting, innovative and flexible recent graduate to participate in our new and unique STAR Program (Stellar Talent and Recruiting Partnerships). Participants will work on a one-year contract with the opportunity to contribute to some of our nation's more important aerospace challenges. This opportunity is for a highly motivated, self-directed systems engineer to support critical needs at the Tools, Applications and Processing lab ("TAP Lab") in Boulder, CO. TAP Lab is a unique and innovative US Space Force (USSF) research and development (R&D) unit that addresses long-term operational needs in future space architectures, develops leading-edge software algorithms and applications, and hosts important space program activities including new prototypes and ground-based capabilities. Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications We are seeking a technically adept, team-oriented and forward-thinking systems engineer to contribute to the lab's engineering capabilities. You will team with and benefit from mentoring by experienced experts in multiple disciplines, providing you ample opportunities to build your technical skills while making a positive impact on national security. TAP Lab has initiated an important strategic shift to address data processing and other challenges inherent in new proliferated space satellite constellations planned for the 2027+ timeframe. These on-orbit systems represent game-changing increases in capability, complexity, and data volume. TAP Lab plans to leverage and advance AI/ML and related technologies and tools to research modern solutions to the associated challenges. This exciting initiative and other critical needs offer an ideal environment to develop your skills and gain exposure to different technical areas of the TAP Lab's mission set. Required Skills 2023/2024 recent graduate with at least a Bachelor's degree . For 2023 candidates, you must have a December graduation date. Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas; systems engineering, advanced technology implementation, or software development Experience with AI/ML tools/software/methodologies Experience using software languages and tools to solve technical challenges Proven ability to identify, analyze and solve problems Excellent verbal and written communications skills Highly reliable self-starter; can be counted on to complete assignments Collaborates well with others and can also work well independently Desired Qualifications Internship/experience with other companies using current STEM degree Current Secret clearance Graduate degree in a STEM related field, especially with AI/ML focus Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field Security Clearance & Other Requirements: Successful candidate must be able to qualify for and maintain a Secret security clearance This position is on-site at the customer facility in Boulder, CO but candidate may qualify for remote work as long as they are able to travel regularly and have access to a nearby secure government facility Candidate will be required to spend approximately half time supporting Stellar Solutions business objectives (STAR program requirement) The typical pay range for this position is USD $80,000 - $90,000 per year, total package. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, retirement plan and other benefits (all included as part of package). Deliverable(s) Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, studies or other documents as directed by Stellar Solutions and Government customers, using approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction.
