About the Role: Aquila is seeking a Systems Administrator t o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The g roup specializes in the rapid design and prototyping of innovative electro-optic systems that address challenges facing the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, NASA, and other U.S. government entities. The group maintains broad expertise in satellite systems, electro-optical and infrared sensors, charge-coupled devices, electronics, image processing, and low-size/weight/power optical communications systems. The vertically integrated group leverages this core expertise to architect, design, prototype, and deploy hardware and software systems in support of mission needs. Emphasis is on working closely with end users to develop enabling concepts, then building and fielding integrated systems on responsive timelines. The group seeks self-motivated engineers and scientists with multidisciplinary skill sets and a passion for prototyping systems that address critical national needs. There are a few requirements for the position: Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify) Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.) Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts. What You'll Do: The group seeks an IT professional to join a small team supporting the growing information technology needs of a roughly 50-person group. The group requires a self-starting, mission-focused person to support a broad range of IT needs. The successful candidate will work with developers and researchers to adopt modern IT tools and processes such as GitLab CI/CD pipelines into the development workflow, and will also participate with the IT team in administering the large number of virtual and physical compute and storage systems in accordance with the laboratory and Government standards. What You'll Bring: 5 years of Running/maintaining databases/data stores (e.g., MySQL, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch) 5 years of Virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, Podman) 5 years of Linux system administration (RedHat + Ubuntu) 5 years of Windows system administration Working Knowledge of the Following: Expertise in Linux system administration (RedHat + Ubuntu) Expertise with Windows system administration Expertise in virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, Podman) Experience with running/maintaining databases/data stores (e.g., MySQL, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch) And These Skills are a Bonus: Prior experience with IT system security compliance (NIST, PCI, HIPPA, CMMC) MacOS system administration Working knowledge of DevOps tools and pipelines Computer networking Amazon Web Services (AWS) Strong understanding of DoD RMF and STIG process Our interview process is designed to let you get to know us as much as for us to get to know you.
