System Planner I

Job Description

Timmons Group is seeking a System Planner I - Power Engineering Systems candidate for our Power Engineering & System Planning Group located in our Charlotte, NC office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Gather transmission, transformer nameplate, and GIS data.

Prepare data for input into Power Flow Programs.

Conduct power flow, transient stability, post-transient power flow and short-circuit duty analyses of the transmission grid.

Supports senior planning staff in performing power system studies involving planning and operations of transmission and distribution systems. Typical studies could include analyses of power flow, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, transient stability and generation system impact, among others.

Supports senior planning staff in providing transmission planning solutions and expertise to clients and industry contacts along with an assessment and documentation of the feasibility of proposed plans.

Provides solutions to data manipulation and processing challenges.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering

0-5 years' experience in Power System Analysis

Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of software.

Experience with power system analysis software is a plus

Must possess strong technical, verbal, and technical writing skills, and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans

Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff and external clients
