This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a System Operator I for our Long Island City, NY office. Be involved in projects with our Mobility Operations Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Operate various computer-based traffic & freeway management systems to manage incidents on roadways and improve traffic conditions Monitor roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems Monitor all Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and computer equipment associated with the system Skilled with the operation of all ITS equipment, computers and software associated with a particular system Utilize ITS equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of life Check the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all Variable Message Signs (VMS) Enter incident information into computer using Traffic Management System (TMS) Software Familiarity with the roadways and understand the purpose and location of each VMS and CCTV device Perform routine daily checklist of all ITS and control room equipment and troubleshoot system failures and help maintain equipment ticket database Use standard operating procedures to detect, dispatch, monitor and document roadway incidents Confer with Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC) partners as well as adjacent NYSDOT Region TMCs to coordinate resources for incidents that may affect regional travel Work with contractors and consulting firms to maintain the system Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies Who You Are Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Oral and written communication Computer/Software - including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases Public, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals) Analytical and organizational skills All candidates must successfully pass a NYSP Criminal History Background Check. Expected Salary: $33,200 - $54,780 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
