General Summary

As the Systems Administrator (SA), the core focus, will be to unify operations and workflows between Network Administrators and Server Administrators. Further, serving as a tier 2 troubleshooting escalation to the Network Administrator team. The SA will collaborate with Teams from our client, as well as business customers in the MSP division. Possessing knowledge of both our client's and customers' network, server, and associated systems will be a crucial skill and highly valued. Understanding these systems architecture and software utilization is paramount in troubleshooting, supporting, and making recommendations. The SA will also work directly with internal Security staff as well as vendors to test and potentially deploy preventative cyber solutions to strengthen our client's ever changing security position. The function of the SA will fluidly change to accommodate the vast needs of technical projects, tasks, or objectives. This may include the following: specialized training, customer interaction, leading projects, and/or troubleshooting a wide range of tickets.

Essential Job Functions

  • NetAdmin Tier 2 escalation point. Design, configure, implement, and maintain infrastructure such as: wireless internet, security solutions, intermediate software solutions, and physical server infrastructure.
  • Maintain, configure, test, and monitor physical / virtual server infrastructure, network infrastructure, and end-user computer systems.
  • Research and comprehend new technical solutions to be implemented. Work with Security on implementation of cyber prevention recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as needed including, but not limited to, completing various reporting and analytics, invoicing, administrative office duties, and other procedural functions.

  • Defining and analyzing customer software & systems requirements and technical specifications.
  • Defining product functionality and creating technical documentation, supporting, or leading investigations and securing software releases.
  • Define System Design for a specific System Function or System Domain.
  • Work with Security vendors to implement preventative cyber solutions and penetration test result mitigation.
  • Negotiate design with Server and Network Admins.
  • Active cross-functional cooperation with teams in NetOps.
  • Active cooperation with the client, representing our client in client discussions, meetings, and investigations.
  • Supervising the implementation process and implementation of requirements, including close collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Participation in project meetings, presentation of work results in front of the client.
  • Creates and maintains technical reference documentation to be used in support and training of Information Technology (IT) personnel.
  • Deploys and configures mostly foundational and occasionally moderately complex server operating systems and applications (Corporate and Third-Party) in physical, virtual, and containerized compute environments to corporate and vendor standards.
  • Performs moderately complex application and storage system upgrades (hardware/software) as well as periodic health checks in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identifies work requests that can be handed-off to NetOps teams and/or automated via software automation and orchestration tools.
  • Prepare and report results from Hardware & Software testing to determine compatibility and functionality.
