Company and Position Information:

Green Thumb Grown Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of Del Monte Foods, Inc is in the process of launching its Take Root Organics Brand and bringing packaged organic produce to consumers at an accessible price point. As part of this initiative, we are also looking to build a community of organic growers through GROW Collaborative with the mission of bringing organic produce growers together with the purpose of enriching our collective community, our organic farming practices, and our planet

Responsibilities:

The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will lead the collaboration initiatives with our growing partners based on a strong foundation of best practices, clear and achievable goals, concrete assumptions, and accountability. The focus will be on aligning internal and external priorities, strategies, action plans, and messaging with a focus on farmer economic resilience, soil health and increased biodiversity with input from our growers.

Lead sustainability/on-the-ground grower support and verification efforts by:

Developing credibility for our new subsidiary "Green Thumb Grown Foods".
Strengthening our current sustainability platform and objectives
Helping move our organic and conventional growers toward better regenerative practices
Establishing/strengthening our relationship with organic growing partners as regenerative products and the ROC certification increase in consumer demand.
Creating a foundation for future expansion to further our sustainable agriculture goals.
Providing scientific input, analysis, and technical support to ensure programs and projects are built on a credible technical basis, including potential contributions to grants, contracts, or requests for proposals.
Participating in cross-functional teams to develop and refine approaches to data collection
All other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in an agricultural and/or environmental science related field (e.g., agronomy, agroecology, agricultural and biological engineering, agricultural economics, natural resources, ecology, soil science, sustainability science/management).
Ideal candidate will bring 3 plus years of experience and knowledge of sustainable or regenerative agricultural systems and supply chains.
Ability to connect with agricultural stakeholders, including farm managers, Del Monte support staff, and others.
Intimate knowledge of growing practices related to some or all of the following: green beans, tomatoes, corn, peas, peaches, pears, root crops.
Awareness of intersection of marketplace needs and grower realities, with ability to help develop realistic expectations for each.
Ability to see potential applications of research and overall sustainability initiatives.
Experience in outreach to growers, handlers, and supply chain systems.
Versed in some aspects of food production as it relates to CPG companies.
Ability to balance trends in research, regulation, the marketplace, and growing that may influence the GROW Collaborative program development priorities.
Works well with cross functional working groups on proposals and projects.
Excellent customer service focus and results oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Some travel anticipated; up to 25% of time.
