Job Description

The SURVEY TECHNICIAN works under general supervision of a registered land surveyor or management position and utilizes the principles and practices of surveying/engineering to gather, analyze and monitor simple to moderately complex engineering-related data.
  • Researches, files, retrieves, reviews and/or prepares a variety of engineering maps, documents, records, reports and correspondence
  • Operates computer-aided design, modeling and/or other application programs
  • Locates utilities, easements, property lines, and/or other information on plans
  • Performs field investigations and/or inspections of existing conditions and new construction
  • Collects, compiles and/or analyzes data and field samples
  • Assists in the preparation of program and project schedules
  • Reviews drawings for conformance with established engineering standards
  • Performs property-related research
  • Provides technical or functional guidance to less experienced staff
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of surveying principles and practices; engineering design and construction practices; computer-aided design and other general engineering computer software application programs, including spreadsheets and word processing is required
  • High school diploma or GED required; Certificate of completion from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology or other related technical program preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Valid driver's license required - Must be insurable by fleet insurer, driving history will be reviewed by agent and underwriter
  • Must be able to pass a background check as required by military, industrial, port, and other client sites.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
