Overview

The Surgical Technologist Advance Trainee I role is for employees pre-selected into the DH WRI Surgical Technologist Training Program. Individuals in this role will work as an Associate Perioperative Support Technician, Central Sterile Reprocessing Technician, or Licensed Nurse Assistant (for qualified LNAs) and also complete the required coursework for the Surgical Technologist Training Program. Required coursework toward the Associate Degree in Health Science at Colby-Sawyer will be outlined in the individual's employee agreement. The Surgical Technologist Trainee I- ADV is a temporary role for those pre-selected and actively enrolled in "year one" of the WRI Surgical Technology Training program. Upon successful completion of "year one" course requirements, the Surgical Technologist Trainee I- ADV transitions to Surgical Technologist Trainee II and begins the 11-month training program. Additionally, this is a temporary role for those who have been pre-selected into the program and have completed the required coursework and await transition to the Surgical Technologist Trainee II role.


Responsibilities
  1. Adheres to all program requirements and standards in compliance with ARC-STSA/CAAHEP accreditation conditions.
  2. Attends, actively participates in, and successfully completes year one Colby-Sawyer classes prior to matriculating into the ST 11-month training program, if applicable.
  3. Duties identified by perioperative services. May include administrative or operational tasks within the central sterile, the operating room, short stay, or the PACU.
  4. Orients and completes necessary competencies to perform a variety of essential environmental and material management functions.
  5. Demonstrates positive interpersonal and professional skills.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (graduate equivalence) required.
  • Pre-selected into the Surgical Technologist Training Program.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Must complete all class activities and assignments as scheduled which may include evenings and weekends.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- Current BLS certification within 30 days of hire. - Registration with the New Hampshire Board of Registration for Medical Technicians within 30 days of hire.
