Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Surface Grinder for a contract to hire position. The ideal candidate will have experience with surface grinding operations, capable of maintaining high precision and producing smooth finishes on flat surfaces. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and accuracy of machined components produced by our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate surface grinding machines to produce parts according to specifications, ensuring smooth finishes on flat surfaces.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Adjust machine controls and change grinding wheels to ensure dimensions and finish meet specifications.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Surface Grinder or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of grinding operations and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in machining or related field is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
