Job Purpose

The Visual Effects Sr. Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring all video projects produced at Studio540 meet Honda's high standards and our clients' expectations. They are responsible for leading a video team of associates and contractors in creating professional corporate videos that help our clients achieve their communications, marketing, and training goals.
This hands-on management role requires expertise across all studio operations - from pre-production planning to directing shoots and overseeing post-production. They are responsible for the overall artistic direction, lighting, camerawork, and editing quality of all video projects produced at Studio540. They must have a strong understanding of how to work with talent and crew to optimize production value while staying within budget and on schedule.
As Visual Effects Sr. Specialist, they will collaborate closely with stakeholders including executives, unit leads, and management (our customers) across Honda to translate their goals into realistic productions given budget and timeline constraints. Strong communication skills are essential to set expectations and deliver exceptional results.


Key Accountabilities

  • Directs and manages all studio projects from concept to final. Will lead pre-production discussions with client(s), including budget and schedule (managing customer's expectations'). Will direct and lead the team to ensure the artistic direction is carried out with appropriate lighting, camerawork and post-production editing.
  • Manages corporate compliance by developing and setting effective policies, processes, and procedures; and ensuring they are being followed by the crew.
  • Develops, creates, and sets clear goals for team members to ensure efficient use of human capital and financial resources. Ensures team is engaged and appropriate professional development goals are established.
  • Provides recommendations for technological solutions to enhance efficiencies. Evaluation of departmental policies and systems for information management and increased efficiencies to support constant improvement efforts



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum job requirements include a bachelor's degree in business, film, video production, or a related field; Master of Business Administration (MBA) desirable
  • 5+ years experience as a corporate or freelance videographer
  • Expert knowledge of video production and post-production workflows, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of lighting techniques.
  • Proficient in Avid Media Composer.
  • Strong project management abilities - resource planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential - motivating, delegating, evaluating, coaching.
  • The ability to work effectively with others and foster a collaborative culture and make decisions that are in the best interest of the overall production is essential.
