Duties Perform lawn enforcement desk operations and law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, arrest or apprehend violators. Direct short and long range staff and administrative actions of simple to complex sensitive and controversial violations of Federal and State lay and UCMJ involving persons and property across the installation. Responsible for reviewing all law enforcement reports and supporting documentation, including substantiating charges for correctness, completeness, accuracy, and attention to detail. Ensure Desk Personnel Maintains communications with mobile patrol units; access control points; passes directions and information to Police Officers. Monitor radio transmissions for proper procedures and follows established guidelines to initiate action for assistance. Responsible for the safety and security of persons confined in detention cells. Coordinates emergency responses between internal and external agency assets and personnel; and receives and acts on calls. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires wearing a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position requires the employee to carry a firearm. The employee must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Medical Examination and an annual examination thereafter. Must attend the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception. Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and/or maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter. Incumbent must pass, within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter, a physical agility test. This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and has been designated by the Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position has been designated Mission and Key Essential. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time. Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related Law Enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) assisting with the coordination and direction of desk operations within an emergency communications center (2) performing law enforcement work to include enforcing traffic laws, issuing traffic tickets, and questioning or apprehending violators of federal or local laws and (3) enforcing state and local laws with arrest or apprehension authority. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
