Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a SUPERVISOR-PATIENT CARE MSW to join our team.

Supervisor- Patient Care MSW assists patients and families in coping with problems resulting from severe or long-term illness, and with difficulties in recovery and rehabilitation. Works with patients and families to obtain psychosocial history, assist patients in resolving environmental difficulties interfering with attainment of maximum benefits from medical care, and conduct routine discharge planning. Directs patients to designated community agencies or resources, as necessary. Works with clinical social work and chaplain staff to foster collaborative practice that will optimize use of resources and assure customer satisfaction. Accountable for evaluations, supervision, leadership, and fiscal outcomes of the Social Work team members.

HOURS: Full Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours each pay period.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of social work theories, therapies, and techniques of casework processes and principles of public welfare at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master's Degree in Social Work from a social work curriculum accredited or approved by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Coursework in Medical Social Work preferred.
  • Approximately six months to a year of on the job experience necessary in order to gain full knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to discharge planning and knowledge of health and welfare resources and facilities.
  • Possesses Wisconsin Certified Social Worker licensure.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills to obtain information from patients and families, provide counseling to same, and interact effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
  • Displays analytical skills in order to assess patients' needs, develop associated discharge planning, and provide sound advice and guidance.
  • Displays ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when interviewing patients, providing therapy, preparing discharge plans and the like.
