Supervisor, Environmental Remediation (Hybrid) 03/01/2024 Locations: East Berlin, Connecticut; Westwood, Massachusetts The Remediation Supervisor will be responsible for mentoring and providing guidance to a group of Environmental Specialists and Senior Environmental Specialists within the Remediation Team. The Supervisor will also be responsible for providing environmental services throughout the Eversource System that ensure effective business practices that comply with all laws and regulations and promote environmental stewardship and sustainability. The Supervisor will be responsible for environmental compliance related to the management of environmental reserve sites where Eversource has liability. Specifically, this position will manage Remediation Team personnel, consultants, and contractors across three states involved in property due diligence evaluations, preparation of remedial action and implementation plans; and management of remediation activities to achieve site closure under cleanup laws and regulations. This position will include the interpretation of rules, regulations, laws, and policies related to environmental assessment and remediation, and monitor new and pending rules related to site cleanup (including soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water and building materials). This position analyzes and interprets data; writes and reviews reports; prepares presentations; and manages project budgets and corporate reserve accounts. This position will interface with a variety of Eversource personnel, legal counsel, and regulatory agency staff; and require a working knowledge of environmental regulations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office. Essential Functions Mentor and provide guidance to a group of Environmental Remediation personnel. Serve as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) subject matter expert for Environmental Remediation. Oversee site assessment and remediation activities ensuring strict compliance with applicable state and federal rules and regulations. Manage contracts, including bid specifications and documents, request for proposals (RFP) coordination, and environmental consultants and vendors. Ensure real estate pre-acquisition and sale environmental due diligence activities are in accordance with ASTM and standard industry practices. Be accountable for budgets associated with site assessments, remediation, and property due diligence. Attend public hearings, public meetings and other forums as needed. Manage third party reserve sites where Eversource has liability. Track and monitor sites with land use restrictions to ensure compliance. Track and monitor subordination agreements to ensure compliance. Adhere to environmental reserve reporting process. Work with Accounting, Real Estate, Legal and other groups. Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and reflective of current rules. Qualifications Technical Knowledge/Skill: Strong working knowledge of the state and federal environmental rules, including PCB management, remediation, and real estate due diligence. Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills are required. Preferred Knowledge: Experience with the investigation and remediation of former Manufactured Gas Plant sites. Federal environmental laws administered by EPA and OSHA. State environmental regulations of CT -RSR; MA - MCP; and NH - COAR RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA, and CERCLA Skills: Ability to manage and mentor personnel. Qualitative and quantitative analyses Team membership skills Ability to act as a key liaison and to work effectively with various organization levels within and outside of the Company. Strong customer focus Ability to interpret and relate complex information in a user-friendly manner. Excellent verbal and written communications Ability to use and apply sound judgment. Initiative and personal ownership Ability to work under pressure. Ability to multi-task and shift among multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated skill with MS Office applications such as Word and Excel Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Master's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related field is a plus. Experience: Five (5) plus years environmental experience with three (3) plus years of utility experience. Licenses & Certifications: Must hold a valid motor vehicle driver's license. MA Licensed Site Professional; CT Licensed Environmental Professional and/or NH Professional Geologist is a plus. Compensation and Benefits: Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $112,000 - $124,000 plus incentive.
