FTE 1 Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours 80 Work Shift Day: 8 hours Job Description The Supervisor Core Laboratory & QA is responsible for the daily operations and technical and scientific oversight of the Core Laboratory. This includes the Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Microbiology and Blood Bank laboratory sections. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Laboratory's Quality Assurance and Safety programs and providing a safe environment of care through oversight of laboratory safety standards, maintenance of a chemical hygiene plan and management of all pertinent SDSs. The Supervisor Core Laboratory & QA will investigate, review and report trends for unanticipated incidents that deviate from regular Laboratory or Laboratory-associated operations via the occurrence reporting system. He/she will also represent the Laboratory on many performance improvement and safety committees and serve as a primary conduit for safety related communication between the Laboratory and accreditation and regulatory agencies. They will train and educate as needed all Laboratory employees on Laboratory QA and Safety programs. Along with the Laboratory Manager, the Supervisor Core Laboratory & QA will supervise and evaluate all laboratory personnel, including Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Laboratory Assistants, and Technical Support Specialist III. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent. Prior experience in Lab QA and Safety required. Four (4) years of combined experience as a CLS in an acute care hospital setting with clinical laboratory safety and quality assurance Supervisory or Lead experience in a hospital laboratory preferred. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability and success in personnel management and team building essential. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skill in laboratory testing methods. Experience in developing, writing and administering processes, policies and procedures including training laboratory staff. Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, JC, AABB and local, state and federal regulations regarding safety (i.e., OSHA, Cal OSHA) Available to work a flexible schedule when needed. License/Certification/Registration Requirements Valid and Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license MT(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, preferred.
