Superintendent / Construction Manager

Location: Cincinnati

Type of Role: Full-Time / Direct Placement

Our client, a construction firm that support various client projects in a variety of industrial/manufacturing markets is currently seeing to hire a Construction Manager. The Construction Manager (Superintendent) is primarily responsible is to execute projects from start to finish; the ability to complete project on-time, within budget and exceeds customer expectations. The Field Superintendent manages all trades and daily activities related to the project, ensure materials are delivered and installed, keep site clean and safe.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Primary liaison with construction project manager/subcontractors for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.

Participate in the pre-construction planning sessions by trade to be familiar with the unique characteristics of the schedule and trade interface.

Become knowledgeable with the scope of all subcontract agreements.

Ensure material is delivered to the construction site per the construction schedule.

Maintain daily logs, weekly reports and progress photographs.

Overseeing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.

Overseeing work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation.

Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.

Manage the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Arclight standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.

Creating schedules and determining sequencing of work. Developing and implementing recovery strategies to maintain project schedule. Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed (2-week schedule); short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates

Advise Project Manager of circumstances and issues that will have a significant impact on the project schedule

Document issues and problems that have developed along with identification of the person(s) responsible for their resolution

Make sure all the updated documents for site operations plan (i.e., safety manual, daily logs, visitor log, emergency action plan, first aid, dumpsters, toiletry, trailer, plans, specifications, contracts, scope of work, contact list)

Compile and schedule punch list items for completion.

Ensures that any quality issues are resolved.

Verify change orders are outside Subcontractors scope of work.

Mentor & Develop Assistant Superintendents to become successful Superintendents.

Responsible for ensuring that proper protocol is followed in relation to Arclight Contractors

Manage the scope of work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.

Inspection of Contractor or (sub)Contract operations to ensure compliance with contract

Maintain good working relationships with all trades

Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Manager. Serve as the point of contact for project management staff, subcontractors, building owners and managers, building engineers, architects and more

Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts

Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through personal actions and mentoring others

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

10+ years of experience in the Construction Management field.

Skills/specialized Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge of industrial construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications.

Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Procore.

Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.

Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Must possess strong technical, communication and computer skills, including email and document management/organization

TRAVEL: Typically 90% - 100% of the time. Travel is typical to clients site for the duration of a project or program.
