A research scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Garcia-Arcos at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University . The lab is focused on research bench work on lipid-related molecular mechanisms of disease. The scientist in this position will work in the following duties and responsibilities: Designs and conducts experiments in existing models of lung disease. Develops new disease models, protocols, and approaches for expanding the lines of research. Stays current with the literature in the field. Interprets data in the context of the literature and prepares manuscripts. Trains new members in specific research techniques. Qualifications required: PhD in the biomedical field and a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience in the areas of lipid metabolism, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, or molecular basis of lipid-related diseases. A master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant lab experience will be considered too. Ability to work with autonomy and to develop new protocols. Experience with in vivo and in vitro models of disease and therapeutic options. Proficiency with biochemistry and cell biology techniques, and in Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism. Willingness to learn new techniques, including computational ones. Qualifications that will be positively considered: Experience using electronic lab books. Practical knowledge of immunohistochemistry and confocal and electron microscopy. Experience in analyzing -omics data. Knowledge of R programming.
