Job Description Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Summer Sanitary Technician. The position is located at 11811 S Sunset Drive, Suite 2700, Olathe, KS 66061. This posting will remain open through 9:00 pm, April 29, 2024. The Summer Sanitary Technician is responsible for inspecting public and semi-public swimming pools for compliance with the Johnson County Environmental Sanitary Code. Other responsibilities include: Test the levels of chlorine or sanitizer in each of the pool sites. Test the levels of pH in each of the bodies of the swimming pool and spa areas. Complete a visual inspection of the pool area for potential safety or public health concerns. Inspect the pumps and filters at the swimming pool site to assure that proper maintenance and upkeep is being performed. Inspect daily records of the swimming pool operators for compliance levels of the pool water. Close swimming pools when necessary to correct esc code violations. This position is a seasonal position running from mid-May through mid-August. Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of related college coursework including laboratory experience is required. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is also required. Education may be substituted for experience. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions: Within sixty (60) days of hire, employees (select DHE and EMS positions) must produce proof of immunization, proof of immunity, proof that immunization is medically contraindicated, submit a written objection to immunization based upon a sincerely held religious belief, or receive vaccination for the following: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR); Tetanus Diphtheria and Acellular Pertussis (TDAP); and Varicella (Chickenpox). All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
