Title: Success Coach Employee Classification: Other Professionals Institution: Roane State Community College Department: Student Success Campus Location: Roane State Community College Job Summary This position will provide holistic student support services and academic advising. The incumbent will guide students through the entire enrollment and advisement process which includes but is not limited to areas such as admissions, career counseling, financial aid, academic planning, academic advising, and class scheduling. This position will serve as a mentor and coach throughout the academic tenure of assigned student supporting them from enrollment to graduation (in collaboration with faculty advisors upon the student's completion of selection benchmarks). Job Duties Assist students in applying and admissions to the college Assist students with career exploration and choice of academic major Assist students in developing an Academic Plan for timely completion Assist students in accessing resources for academic, financial and/or personal support Serve as an academic advisor coach and mentor students providing support in academic career Coordinate with college personnel to resolve personal and financial issues that are barriers to student success Identify academically at-risk students and facilitate appropriate interventions Maintain flexible schedule for student advisement appointments Collaborate with faculty and staff on the delivery of support components Assist students/faculty advisors with completing admissions, financial aid requirements and SAP appeals Promote visibility of Student Success Coach through outreach to students and faculty Collaborate on individual student success strategies with faculty advisors This position will also cover Morgan County student appointments as needed Participate in specialized training Maintain detailed records Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; must obtain within first full term semester (summer semester not included) Experience in at least one of the following areas: Advising, Admissions, Records, Financial Aid, Student Enrollment Experience working with students in/out of the classroom Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience with Banner Software a plus Experience with Banner Document Management System a plus Must be willing to travel to other RSCC campuses Preferred Qualifications Previous counseling or case management experience Previous experience working with adult learners Higher Education experience Academic Advising experience Financial Aid Counseling/Processing experience Admissions Counseling/Processing experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal skills Strong communication skills High energy Strong organizational skills Strong data collection and documentation skills Capable of handling multiple projects Strong self-discipline and motivation Ability to handle a high level of stress and meet deadlines Ability to adapt to a changing working environment Ability to maintain high expectations while providing nurturing support in student interactions Ability to work with multiple constituencies Strong time management skills
