MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: College senior who will obtain their bachelor's degree within six months of hiring. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Education, Guidance, Counseling, or related field. Experience in a Community College setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides proactive and individualized success coaching to a student caseload facilitated by an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics inclusive of the identified population. Conducts focus group programs and assists with the establishment of male mentoring programs and services to promote their success on campus. Helps embed effective intrusive advising processes to reach at-risk students who could benefit most from additional support. Identify and provide proactive outreach to at-risk students connecting them to intentional intervention and student support activities. Engages students in educational planning activities to help guide them to achieve their educational goals. Empowers students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services and become better connected to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services, and disability services. Regularly attends assigned academic department meetings, engage with faculty/staff, and other departmental meetings, as appropriate, to remain current with departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by the AVP of Student Services. COMPETENCIES: Ability to multitask, problem solve, work independently, utilize good judgment, and perform detailed tasks accurately. Willingness to accommodate requests for support outside of regular business hours on occasion, with appropriate notice. Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team. Ability to understand and communicate with students in both academic and personal-social domains. Working knowledge of advising/counseling theories and techniques. Adaptability, initiative, and flexibility. Attention to detail and accuracy. Customer service orientation and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm for working with internal and external constituents. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work. Punctual and speaks clearly, sensitively, and persuasively when interacting with stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidentiality in working with students and their records. Supports the aims, objectives, goals, and mission of the college. SALARY: Position is part-time and contingent on annual allocation of grant funds from the Longleaf Commitment Community College Grant. The project period is until December 31, 2024. The intention is to achieve outcomes that will allow the college to sustain the position beyond the grant period.
