DEFINITION: Under limited supervision of the principal, to supervise students and maintain order on the playground and in the lunch area, and to perform other related work as directed. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Observes and directs students on the playground and in the lunch area; maintains a harmonious atmosphere on the playground; intervenes in situations as needed; reports all problems and accidents to the principal and makes out accident reports as they occur; communicates standards of behavior and takes disciplinary measures to enforce them; cleans lunch area after lunch period; performs other tasks as directed. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to: meet the physical, mental and environmental demands of position; use sound judgment in stressful situations; work effectively with 9-12 students in a multi-ethnic setting; supervise 9-12 students; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work with a minimum of supervision; ability to deal with problems firmly and fairly as soon as they arise. Perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner so as not to cause a risk to the health and safety of self and others. Education, Training, and Experience: MUST submit verification of completion of the twelfth grade through diploma, high school transcripts or GED certificate upon hire; Past experience in working with youth groups is highly desirable. Personal Qualities: Good physical condition, patience, willingness to perform job tasks, reliable and dependable.
