SUMMARY: Oversees and provides support in the implementation of a safe and healthy school environment in the Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation. SUPERVISES: Health Aides and Students as assigned. EDUCATION/LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Completion of educational and training requirements for certification as a registered nurse. Current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in Indiana. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (graduate of an accredited nursing program). Current certification in CPR/AED. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Conduct and perform all examinations and screening activities as required by law. Follow procedures for the prevention and control of communicable diseases in the School Corporation. Assist with the implementation of a safe and healthy school environment in the schools. Serve as liaison between the student, family, and community as required. Serve as a consultant to the administrators and school personnel, parents and children in regard to health needs of students in the school. Maintain all health records and update cumulative record folders as required. Supervise or administer the distribution of medications. Conduct a scalp inspection on a regular basis of students who may be infectious to the rest of the student body and work with the parents and students. Be available and provide health counseling in education for students, personnel, and community as needed. Maintain a positive relationship with other staff, parents, and students. Provide emergency care for illness or injury occurring during school hours according to established school policy. Ability to effectively present information to administrators, coaches, teachers, staff members, parents, public groups, and the Board. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the school community. Must have dependable transportation to travel between schools. Ability to manage time, be self-motivated, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to perform duties and have an awareness of all School Corporation requirements and School Board policies that apply to this position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios, to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to solve practical problems related to job responsibilities.
