Category Sub/Temp Description Position Title: Health Fitness/Activities Technician Substitute Supervisors Title: Director - Health Fitness/Wellness Center Services Position Status: On-Call, As Needed Classification/Points: Classification E, Step 1 Bargaining Unit/Division: None Position Description: Provides operational assistance and monitors the activities in the Fitness/Wellness Center. This position works on an as-needed basis to fill in for absences of the regular Wellness Center staff. Position Qualifications: Current Adult CPR and standard First Aid Certification required. At least one year of appropriate experience in a health/fitness center setting preferred. Knowledge of exercise equipment and their functions required. Course work in anatomy, physiology and psychology preferred. Experience in customer service methods in dealing with a diverse membership population required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Position Requirements Position Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Provides operational assistance and monitors the activities in the Fitness/Wellness Center Schedules and performs membership orientations. Interacts with Center membership and assist with exercise activities. Works with the director in management of confidential records and receipt of payments. Perform opening and closing procedures for the Center. Which will include shoveling the entrance/exit area occasionally. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment: This job operates in an athletic center and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and fitness machines and fitness-related apparatus. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
