POSITION OVERVIEW: Working as a member of the custodial team, performs custodial duties as directed by the building Principal. Custodial duties to be assigned include all tasks required to maintain the cleanliness of the facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES; Cleans bathrooms, classrooms and other areas. Sweeps and washes floors, empties trash and washes windows. Maintains hard floor finish systems. Operates powered custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, auto scrubbers, floor machines, wet vacuums, floor sweepers, carpet cleaning machines and power washers. Outdoor tasks: snow and ice removal, sanding walkways and picking up litter. Also performs tasks supportive of school functions such as moving/setting up/breaking down chairs and tables, controlling building access and maintaining security. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required. Working knowledge of building operations beneficial. Must be willing and able to receive and follow directions and to work as a team member. Must be willing and able to perform strenuous physical labor including sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, lifting heavy objects, painting, climbing stairs and ladders. Must be trustworthy, teachable, flexible and demonstrate an attitude of concern for the cleanliness, safety and security of the school. Ability to relate well to the school community and the general public. Employment based on successful completion of a CORI background check. Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment. QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED: Previous custodial experience.
