Responsibilities The Substance Abuse Counselor assesses the patient's drug and alcohol history, and provides therapeutic and educational services consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Roxbury Treatment Center. Job Duties and Responsbilities: Maintaining caseload per State Regulations. Ensure completion of all required paperwork (i.e. psychosocial summary, treatment plan, progress notes etcetera) as outlined by regulation both accurately and timely. Provides evidence-based and other approved counseling techniques and interventions to facilitate client success. Offer assessment, individual, and group sessions. Qualifications Substance Abuse Counselor Job Requirements: Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in Psychology or other related field which includes a practicum in health or human service agency preferred. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Psychology or other related field and one year of clinical experience (minimum 1820 hours) in a health or human services agency required. Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a registered nurse and a degree from an accredited school of nursing and one (1) year of counseling experience (minimum 1820 hours) in a health or human services agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If a person's experience did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individuals training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues. Full certification as an addiction counselor by statewide certification body, which is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government's substance abuse counseling certification board.
