The Auto Managed Care team is seeking a Subrogation Claim Handler to facilitate and manage personal injury protection (PIP) litigation and medical payments (med-pay) claims for The Hartford. Our selected candidate shall work collaboratively with claimants and other insurance entities on the negotiation and recovery of these payments. The Claim Handler will consistently operate within our corporate claim standards for statutory and regulatory policies as they plan, recommend, and execute file strategies on a claim which is consistent with corporate claim settlement policies. Additional key responsibilities include: Properly identify mitigation, subrogation, and other recovery opportunities Regularly update critical claim data for our internal and external customers Accurately resolve complex coverage issues Expertly contribute to loss cost management by recognizing potential for subrogation and special investigation Provide thought leadership and support technical expertise with teammates Build effective business relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders Effectively handle claims and review appropriate case law to support recovery Analyze and refer appropriate files to arbitration and litigation Effectively support and drive operational results through insight and reporting on industry trends Execute the department's strategy for financial goals and maintaining profitability while maintaining The Hartford's high ethical standards Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal business partners Maintain compliance with internal and external reporting requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 year of bodily injury claims handling experience is required, subrogation claim experience is preferred Minimum of 1 year of auto claims handling experience is required with strong knowledge of auto liability adjusting principles Demonstrated expertise in the ability to investigate, evaluate and negotiate complex claims College degree or equivalent work experience Strong computer proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint) Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills Superb time management, organizational and prioritization skills Demonstrated passion for delivering a superb customer experience Adept at managing conflict as an opportunity to listen and share information while negotiating a win/win outcome Expert knowledge of complex medical terms and medical provider billing practices Demonstrated success operating autonomously in a high-volume work environment Readily able to apply critical thinking skills to gather information, apply sound reasoning, draw appropriate conclusions, and make sound decisions based on analysis This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our offices and will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. As a condition of your employment, you must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
