Position Title: Student Success Coordinator, Physician Assistant Program Job Description: The Student Success Coordinator will work closely with the leadership team of the Physician Assistant Program (Program) to promote student success with a strong focus on student outcomes and timely remediation. The Student Success Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Director of Assessments in collecting, organizing, validating, and evaluating student data, performing meaningful interpretation, and identifying areas of needed improvement and success in compliance with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Standards. As a principal faculty member, the Student Success Coordinator will support the PA Program in ongoing accreditation activities, creation and implementation of policies and procedures, design, review, and implementation of student assessments, alignment of the curriculum with ARC-PA and professional standards, and assessment of the program. The Student Success Coordinator will work with the Director of Assessments to maintain, evaluate, and improve processes to collect and analyze student data and ensure the curriculum is complete and effective while participating in the academic and administrative delivery of the Program with a strong focus on student remediation. This full-time position will comply with accreditation standards of release for clinical work and maintenance of clinical licenses. The Student Success Coordinator will report to the Director of Assessments and ultimately to the Program Director. Continued employment contingent on successful accreditation by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Specific Accreditation Duties and Responsibilities Include: Help ensure that students have the necessary attention and instruction to acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for entry into the profession. Support the program conducting and documenting a summative evaluation of each student within the final four months of the program to verify that each student meets the program competencies required to enter clinical practice, including: clinical and technical skills, clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, medical knowledge, and professional behaviors. Help ensure that the PA Program delivers an ongoing self-assessment process that is designed to document program effectiveness and foster program improvement. At a minimum, the process must address: effectiveness of the didactic curriculum, effectiveness of the clinical curriculum, preparation of graduates to achieve program defined competencies, and PANCE performance. Help ensure that the PA program implements its ongoing self-assessment process by: conducting data collection performing critical analysis of data, and applying the results leading to conclusions that identify: program strengths program areas in need of improvement, and action plans Support the preparation of a self-study report that accurately and succinctly documents the process, application and results of ongoing program self-assessment. The report must follow the guidelines provided by the ARC-PA. Support the program to identify and address any student deficiencies in a timely manner. Support the equitable and accurate documentation of student academic records including: student performance while enrolled, remediation efforts and outcomes, summaries of any formal academic/ behavioral disciplinary action taken against a student, and that the student has met requirements for program completion. Support submitting reports and documents as required by the ARC-PA. Perform and document student remediation in a timely manner. Other Responsibilities: PA Program Faculty: All program faculty must possess the educational and experiential qualifications to perform their assigned duties. Principal faculty and the program director must be responsible for, and actively participate in the processes of: developing, reviewing, and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals and competencies of the program, selecting applicants for admission to the PA program, providing student instruction, evaluating student performance, academic counseling of students, assuring the availability of remedial instruction, designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum, and evaluating the program. Engage in professional development and scholarly activity or service at local, national, and international levels. Participate in ongoing continuing medical education. Program Leadership Support the implementation of Program assessment processes, helping to coordinate all ongoing data collection, review, and assessment compliant with ARC-PA Standards. Support timely data assessments to inform student remediation efforts. Maintain and update online learning resources for students including Canvas, ExamSoft, and Exxat to support accurate curricular mapping as assigned. Support research and compile statistics and data for accreditation, grants, projects, self-study reports, and student success. Support the development and maintenance of evaluation guidelines for student success throughout the Program. Help to ensure that elements of the Self Study Report are in place to meet accreditation requirements. Support the Program Leaders in evaluating instructional faculty and educational content to continuously improve quality of instruction and assure that course objectives are met. Support prompt identification and delivery of student remediation. Maintain equipment and supplies needed for the effective delivery of the curriculum. Support the Program's participation in the accreditation process according to the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Assist in the development, ongoing evaluation, and equitable implementation of Program policies and procedures. Support an inclusive climate in which educators are motivated to achieve excellence in teaching. Engage in professional development and scholarly activity or service at local, national, and international levels. Other duties as assigned by the Dean, Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Director of Assessments. Academic and Research Teaching duties as assigned. Student advising as assigned. Identify and support academic research opportunities as assigned. Work closely with the Director of Assessments to ensure alignment of learning outcomes with Program and professional goals and ensure consistent delivery of required content. Work with the Director of Assessments to conduct course and Program evaluation, using results to plan for continuous improvement. Student Recruitment and Retention Support the admissions process. Represent the Program at recruitment, admissions, orientation, graduation, and other special events as requested. Serve as a liaison between students and Program educators. Work closely with the Director of Assessments to report on enrollment, retention, and progression of students in the Program, and use data to recommend Program resource, policy, or practice changes to increase student success and retention. Fiscal Support the acquisition of resources needed for program academics. Maximize resources in accordance with sound fiscal principles. Outreach Assist in soliciting feedback from Program stakeholders in relation to Program coordination processes, outcomes, and design. Represent Mount St. Mary's University and the Program at professional meetings. Collaborate with colleagues from other schools to advance PA Education. Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: Minimum of three years clinical experience as a PA. Demonstrated knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice of the Physician Assistant profession. Highly organized. Demonstrated experience with PA student education.
