Position Summary

The ideal candidate will have a background and interest in marketing/advertising. The person will assist the Director of Marketing and Communications with executing Dining Services' promotions, Meal Plans, special events, advertising, as well as with the preliminary research and proposals required for the creation of new programs.

Job Requirements

  • Assist with organizing special events and other initiatives.
  • Copywriting for websites, social media networks. Contribute to vendor continuity promotions and customer incentive programs.
  • Oversee and assist with all Point of Sale (POS) distribution.
  • Participate in development of focus groups, surveys.
  • Regular attendance for scheduled shifts is required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to handle high volume events and public speaking
  • Must attend a training class and complete new hire paperwork virtually.
  • Student employees must be registered for classes at the University or show proof of registration from another institution.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Job Assignments

  • Assist as necessary in the preparation of materials to distribute to dining units.
  • Attend events and take photos to archive/upload.
  • Must be capable of evaluating existing programs, and designing improvements for Dining Services' and Auxiliary Operations
  • Understand the general functions of all dining locations and other Auxiliary businesses

Desired Qualifications

Marketing Major or Communication Focus, Social Media Marketing & Communication Trends a plus, Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media Capabilities (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat).


Work Environment

  • The work environment can be loud and busy. There is exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery falls.
  • Work may take place outside in inclement weather.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • The position is very active and the employee must be able to stand and walk for up to a minimum of 8 hours.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • The employee must have the ability to use hands to finger, manipulate fingers; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
