Job Requisition ID: R Job Category: Clerical and Customer Service Organization: SOM-Preventive Medicine-Operations Location/s: Main Campus Jackson Job Title: Student & Employee Health Specialist I - SOM-Preventive Medicine Job Summary: To provide general and specialized support for Student and Employee Health in an administrative role and in the context of a health care setting. Works in a team environment to ensure coverage for all relevant tasks as well as provide exceptional customer service inside and outside of the unit. Responds to patient and/or staff/student needs by consulting with others as appropriate and by following established departmental guidelines. May serve as work lead (non-supervisory) for other departmental staff. Education & Experience Associate's degree and one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Licenses, certificates or registration: N/A Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills. Customer-service mindset. Knowledge and understanding of typical computer systems, tools and programs. Ability to work in a team environment. Responsibilities: Maintains and updates filing systems for department records, employee files, student files, department correspondence, and other files Answers telephones, takes messages, refers calls and frequently resolves general caller needs without the need to refer to others. Performs urine sample collection, maintains appropriate chain of custody and other regulatory aspects of sample collection, and manages process of routing for testing. Creates, reviews, maintains, and acts upon as necessary the documentation of health records for employees, students, and contractors. Communicates with employees, students, and contractors as well as departments about this information, as necessary. Monitors and communicates immunization compliance through reporting or other means. Liaises with each school as needed to ensure student adherence with health requirements. Assists with special departmental projects as assigned by supervisor. Coordinate patient scheduling and registration.
