Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $20.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary The Student Early Care and Education Aide (Aide) supports the overall center operations at the Little Beavs Early Learning Center, a unit within the Family Resource Center on the Oregon State University Bend campus. Campus early care and education (ECE) centers are committed to continually discovering, creating, and sustaining a teaching and learning environment that supports inquiry, diversity, and equity. The Aide supports the full-time teacher(s), the Center Director, and other Center wide duties, inclusive of preparing snacks/lunches for children. This recruitment will be used to fill up to 2 part-time positions (with a maximum of 20 hours per week) located in Bend, Oregon. Position Duties Assist in the implementation of developmentally appropriate, play-based, culturally responsive, and equity-oriented educational program with an emergent curriculum for an assigned program and age range of children. Prepare and maintain a safe, attractive, neat, and functional environment, both indoors and outdoors, and utilize the environment as a teaching tool Support lead and associate teachers with daily documentation Assist program staff with lunch and break time schedules; nap time, clean-up; and hygienic care (toileting, handwashing, etc) Form a positive, supportive team atmosphere with other program teachers and staff members Prepares snacks and lunches for children and maintains kitchen Works with center leadership on developing menus and ordering food Prepares food inclusive of: using hotplates, toaster oven, and microwave; washes, slices, chops, grates food products Keeps kitchen in clean and sanitary condition at all times: puts food away in designated storage, cleans sinks, counters, and serving areas: washes trays/carts, dishes, pots, and pans; sorts and stacks clean dishes, glasses, and utensils Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Experience in an early care and education center Demonstrable contributions to promoting and enhancing diversity Food Handler's Certification Oregon ELC Background Clearance- Criminal Background Registry (CBR) Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid, AED within 90 day of employment OSU Background Clearance Preferred (Special) Qualifications Experience as a cook Previous or current college courses in Early Childhood Education, Early Education, Human Development and Family Sciences, Special Education, or related field.
