Effective Date(s): September 1, 2024 Staff Needed: One (1) Student Assistance Coordinator Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. New Jersey Standard Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) Certification endorsement required. Excellent communication, counseling skills and ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, students, and substance use. Knowledge of NJSA 18A:40A-1 and procedures for the identification of students possibly abusing drugs, alcohol or other substances and mental health issues / concerns. Knowledge of community resources available for the prevention, intervention and treatment, and rehabilitation of alcohol and drug problems, as well as youth mental wellness and crisis intervention Ability to use computer network system and software applications including Microsoft Office and virtual platforms like Google Suite for Educators. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with at risk students. Knowledge of behavioral modifications and intervention strategies which will improve student behavior and motivate disaffected students. Demonstrated ability to lead group counseling and classroom lessons on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
