Job Title: Concrete Structures Superintendent

Job Description:

Structure Superintendent is responsible for the direct management and execution of construction activities of Heavy Highway/Civil Concrete Structure and/or various other related construction projects. The Structures Superintendent utilizes plans, specifications, site conditions, education, and past experience to accurately direct and manage the amount of materials, equipment, and labor required to construct a given project. Position reports to Vice President and Project Manager.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Travel to sites to evaluate existing conditions, supervise construction activities, and to meet the owner's and/or owner's representatives.
  • Assist with risk and contract management responsibilities as required.
  • Properly follow and enforce all Company policies
  • Closely follow the proposed project budget/forecast, schedule, work plans, and controls.
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with the Project Manager.
  • Manage production so as to remain on budget and schedule, anticipating project needs to avoid delays or disruptions.
  • Maintain and improve upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas of assigned projects.
  • Work with Project Managers and Foremen to determine and coordinate required labor, equipment, and material resources for the project.
  • Submit daily/weekly timesheets to Project Managers.
  • Track and adjust monthly quantities through completion of project.
  • Review monthly & quarterly cost reports.
  • Keep Executive management informed of project progress and/or concerns.
  • Promote effective communication.
  • Manage conflicts toward a productive end.
  • Evaluate work force to recognize and develop future supervisors.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop and submit timely pay estimates.
  • Monitor progress & percentage of completion per pay item.
  • Stay current with all project documentation (Submittals, RFI, RFP, Correspondence, Emails, etc.)
  • Provide Project Managers with copies of all correspondence (written, verbal, letters, emails, phone calls, text messages, etc.)
  • Provide positive safety leadership, ensuring project participants adhere to all applicable federal, state, local, company, and project specific requirements.
  • Provide positive environmental leadership; understand and manage environmental permits and regulations (SWPPP, etc).
  • Provide schedule of work to all Foremen on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Supervise all field operations on assigned projects, including directing crews and subcontractors, and maintaining material inventory.
  • Responsible to be the primary point of contact for assigned projects, as well as the company safety supervisor and EEO represetantive.
  • Track delivery, use, and completion of owned and rented equipment on the job.
  • Schedule & document all required surveys, utility locates, inspections, quality, testing, and other compliance requirements.
  • Perform regular evaluation of Foremen and hourly personnel with attention to pre-set goals on work progress, safety performance, quality workmanship, and cost reduction.
  • Perform all preliminary incident reports/investigations.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in construction management or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in concrete construction, with a focus on bridge construction or rehabilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Familiarity with construction plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced construction environment, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification or training in concrete construction or related field.
  • Experience working on bridge construction or rehabilitation projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, including DOT requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction software and technology, such as scheduling software or mobile applications for project management.
