Job Description and Duties Staff Psychiatrists are responsible for making definitive diagnoses and decisions. The Staff Psychiatrist examines and diagnoses psychiatric clients/patients; determines types of psychiatric and general medical treatment needed; administers psychiatric treatment with assistance, as necessary, from multi-disciplinary clinical staff. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security as well as transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings.
