Description: Position Summary This Staff Nurse I will play a critical role in meeting the goals of a federally funded study on long COVID by applying nursing skills and clinical knowledge to the process. The position will consent participants, return/explain results to participants (e.g., labs), obtain vital signs and conduct other research testing per research protocol. The Staff Nurse I will ensure study compliance with federal regulations. Collaboration with Carle, Population Health Sciences in Chicago (UIC), and OSF is expected. Duties & Responsibilities Establishes communication with participants including scheduling of/confirmation of appointments and explaining research tests to participants. Administers study visits. This can include explaining and conducting surveys specific to the COVID population, phlebotomy, obtaining bio-specimen samples, obtaining informed consent, and guiding participants to hospital-based procedures. Additional, more advanced clinical procedures, such as neurological exams will also be administered. The nurse will provided medical results to participants answering questions about the findings. The Research Nurse will assist in determining the nature of adverse events. Provides input and/or establishes unit procedure as necessary. Responsible for patient documentation related to research activities including data entry of values obtained during study visits, results of hospital-based tests, communication with participants, and other values relevant to the research team. Serves as a clinical liaison by contributing in meetings with study team locally, regionally, and nationally, including trainings on new procedures or protocol updates. Performs other related duties. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
