What is the role and where can you add value?

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is seeking a highly motivated and customer centric individual to join our Claims Team. As a Claims Adjuster you will apply your knowledge and experience adjudicating claims in the New Home Division. You will be handling workmanship, systems and structural defect warranty claims. Industry specific training will be provided. This team member should be organized with a strong work ethic and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. You will have the opportunity to take on a variety of responsibilities and the ability to grow within the organization

Core Job Responsibilities:

Perform detailed claim investigations, evaluate and settle new home workmanship, systems and structural defect claims.
Review and interpret technical warranty and insurance policy terms and conditions, and to apply them to make proper coverage determinations.
Manage claim files and establish loss and expense reserves
Collect and analyze engineering and loss data and interpret engineering reports to adjust repair estimates, negotiate settlements, and to pay or otherwise resolve claims.
Communicate warranty responsibilities and standards to builders, homeowners, sales reps, and others to provide warranty guidance and/or expedite warranted repairs and minimize insurance claims
Draft effective written correspondence with technical complexity and create accurate, complex reports
Compile, prepare and present information to managers, builders, contractors, homeowners, engineers and attorneys and lead Q&A sessions.
Analyze information and develop solutions for a variety of situations in which limited standardization exists.
Apply mathematical principles and formulate calculations; discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Evaluate and determine reasonableness of building repair estimates
Ensure that Service Level Agreements and deadlines are met by coordinating and following up with all necessary parties
Travel out of state on occasion to attend field inspections, arbitrations and mediations
Other duties as assigned

What skills and experience should you bring to this role?

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the property/casualty insurance, or home warranty insurance industries.
Active Property and Casualty Adjuster's license with the ability to complete required course of study, and pass examinations necessary to obtain and maintain a qualifying reciprocal adjuster's license
5+ years of Claims Adjusting experience
Intermediate knowledge of home construction practices
Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Experienced in reading and interpreting contract language, statues, regulations, technical information and accurately apply them throughout the claims process.
Possess intermediate critical thinking skills to analyze and negotiate a resolution with experience in resolving highly escalated situations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to apply problem solving skills to complex situations and clearly document claim file activities.
Advanced computer skills working in multiple platforms including Word, Excel, and Outlook
