Job Details

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a knack for precision and a passion for excellence in accounting practices. This role is central to the financial heartbeat of our company, particularly as we expand our homebuilding division into burgeoning markets. The ideal candidate will bring professional accounting expertise, including the ability to examine, analyze, reconcile, and verify financial records, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and improvement.

Core Responsibilities:

Spearheading the monthly financial close process, including the preparation and entry of journal entries, and assisting in the crafting of accurate financial reports.
Generating backlog and Gross Margin Percentage Reports, along with monthly reporting packages.
Ensuring timely preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries.
Overseeing loan draw processes to maximize financing opportunities from existing commitments.
Conducting thorough balance sheet account analyses and executing analytical procedures as necessary.
Proactively identifying accounting discrepancies or areas ripe for enhancement.
Collaborating with external auditors during audit periods and interim reviews.
Contributing to special projects which may involve analysis, documentation, and implementation of new accounting standards, as well as efforts to refine the financial close process.
Embracing additional responsibilities as the need arises.
Qualifications & Skills:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting or financial reporting, with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Exceptional analytical prowess and advanced proficiency in Excel.
Previous experience in the real estate or construction sectors is REQUIRED.
Familiarity with Stampli or similar accounting software, indicating a tech-savvy approach to financial management.
