Staff Accountant

Summary:

Applies principles of General Accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems by performing the following duties.

What You'll Do:
Month end duties, including but not limited to, prepaids, accruals, intercompany postings, warranty and labor accruals.
Prepares GL reconciliations for accuracy and reasonableness.
Prepares all workbooks for cash postings and bank reconciliations.
Prepares property and sales tax accruals and maintains workbooks representing the balance until payment due.
Understands and prepares journal entries for all accruals and general accounting.
Prepares with staff all census reports.
Prepares all Annual Filing documents for all states, cities, and counties as needed.
Trend analysis by cost center to identify mis-coded posting.
Perform audit work as necessary.
Other projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have one to three years accounting experience at a professional level.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must be able to articulate information in a professional manner.
Presentation skills are also important.
Must be able to facilitate meetings with small and large groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to perform and understand the following: simple algebra, elementary statistics, percentages, fractions and arithmetic.
REASONING ABILITY:
Individual and team problem solving.

Must be able to work overtime with minimal notice to meet deadlines
Job performance depends on meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
Fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel occasionally domestically.
Description:
Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
