Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Traffic Engineer to be based in Los Angeles, CA.

Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise

Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others

Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables

Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects

Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package

Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings

Prepares technical specification sections

Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead traffic engineering projects throughout California

Plan approvals through LADOT and Caltrans

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events as well as write concise and readable technical reports and documents

Supporting a wide range of traffic engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities

Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills

Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, analysis, value engineering, writing technical specification and project cost estimate

Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered, apply innovative design solution, implementing current technology to meet project design needs

Provides guidance, mentor and coach to entry level/junior engineers, or technicians, to learn and improve their technical skills

Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and preferable Project) Skilled in MicroStation and AutoCAD software

Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, demonstrate effective time management skills, and consistently deliver high quality deliverables
