The Department of Anesthesiology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Research Associate 2, SOM to work in Miami, FL. The Senior Research Associate 2, SOM ensures that the operations of the assigned laboratory are efficient and in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Moreover, this employee engages in complex and specialized research activities in furtherance of the University's research goals and objectives. Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures. Participates in the publication of significant results. Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice. Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions. Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in a relevant field Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. 2 years experience in the Specific Functions, preferred. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Request biochemistry and molecular biology skills: Western blotting, ELISA, ICC, IF, RNA/DNA, PCR, RT-PCR, Chip, Luciferase report assay, and/or cell culture of neuron, astrocyte, microglia, and human iPSC, etc. Prepare animal IACUC/IBC protocol, short form. Breeding and genotyping of WT/KO animal models. Roden drug injection (IP, IV, etc.), brain stereotaxic surgery, and collection of blood and organ/tissue, etc. Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Basic Lab managing, Ability of communicate with inner Departments/Campus, outer vendors/customers/company representatives. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may b e considered.
