Organization Overview: The Global Health Safety and Environment (GHSE) department provides standards, performs audits, consults on operational compliance, advises on best practices, consults on cultural improvement efforts, conducts benchmarking, and communicates with HSE on every level. We blend high-quality counsel with decades of practical experience across a wide variety of industries. Headquartered in the Lilly Corporate Center, with regional support located in Europe, we help business areas manage their HSE programs more effectively, meet critical compliance obligations in operations around the globe, and achieve improved control of workplace HSE aspects (hazards or risks). Responsibilities: This position is one of three Lead Auditors currently within the HSE Audit Services group. The primary responsibility of the HSE Lead Auditor is to plan and execute HSE audits of Lilly facilities globally. The objective of the Global HSE audit program is to assess compliance with applicable local HSE regulations, Lilly Global HSE standards, and the effectiveness of the business's HSE Management System. The goals of the program are to inform senior management of Lilly's compliance with regulations and GHSE standard requirements globally, and to report on the status of HSE continuous improvement activities. In addition to the Lead Auditor role, this position may also leverage the experience and expertise of the employee through ownership, implementation and/or facilitation of global HSE standards, HSE programs or other business support activities. Schedule, plan and execute the necessary number of team-based audits per year to assess compliance with applicable local HSE regulations, Lilly Global and divisional HSE standards, and the effectiveness of the business's HSE Management System. Generally, audits range from 3-5 days onsite. Lead Auditors typically execute 7 to 10 per audits per year, with as many as 11+ per year during peak periods. Select audit team members to participate in Global HSE audits. Continuously improve and conduct training for audit team members. Communicate GHSE audit results to site and Global HSE management (oral and written reports). Submit a written overview report of GHSE audit results on time to senior management after each audit executed. Participate in and lead a variety of GHSE audit program improvement efforts. Ability to travel up to 50% within and outside the United States to execute HSE audits and attended professional conferences. Provide support for other assessment and review activities as time permits based on needs (CMOs, new acquisitions, etc) Basic Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in physical sciences, engineering, safety or environmental management. Minimum of seven years HSE experience, including participation on health and safety, PSM and/or environmental audits. Additional Preferences: Extensive knowledge of health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements. Ability to work independently, including planning and organizing project work. Excellent communication skills with a wide variety of customers, including operations personnel and senior management. Must be able to effectively and tactfully deliver constructive feedback and technical information during the audit process to auditors, site individuals and to site groups. Computer skills proficiency (e.g. Outlook, Lync TEAMS, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Professional certification preferred (e.g., CSP, CPEA, CPSA, PE, ISO 14000 or CIH). Additional Information: Travel up to 50% Shift information: Full Time Position location: Indianapolis - Lilly Corporate Center Role requires fluency in the English language, written and spoken. Domestic and international travel is required to conduct audits, attend training and professional meetings.
