Pay This position is an exempt position at pay grade 209. Attendance Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed. Who May Apply? All persons legally authorized to work in the United States Overview The Senior Inspector for Plumbing/ Mechanical will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting plumbing and mechanical codes; directing contractors, engineers and City personnel in the implementation of plumbing and mechanical codes; maintaining on-going communications with outside agencies, citizens, and City personnel; monitoring procedures employed by Plumbing and Mechanical Inspectors for adherence to applicable codes and regulations; and ensuring plumbing and mechanical systems are properly designed and installed according to current adopted ICC and City of Corpus Christi codes to provide for safety, health, and welfare of the general public. Responsibilities Supervised and reviews the work of subordinate Plumbing/ Mechanical Inspectors for quality and uniformity of inspections Assists inspectors in resolving code interpretation differences between inspections and customers Distributes the daily work and assigns inspections Conducts and participates in technical training sessions Answers questions, resolves issues and provides technical advice for City management, builders, customers, and other customers relating to plumbing/ mechanical code and regulations Approves alternate mechanical/ plumbing inspection methods or material for code compliance within the scope of authority delegated by the Deputy Building Official, Assistant Director or Building Official Ensures inspections are performed in accordance with approved plans and all disciplines Conducts project meetings to ensure inspection coordination or to resolve problems Demonstrates superior seamless customer services, integrity and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS) Minimum of five (5) years of experience; with two (2) years of supervisory experience A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License at time of hire ICC Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification required within six (6) months of hire ICC Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification required within six (6) months of hire ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification required within six (6) months of hire ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification required within six (6) months of hire A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Other Information: Benefits The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes: Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
