Position Summary: This individual will guide development of commercial & medical peri-launch strategy for diagnostics related to Lilly pipeline products in collaboration with innovation readiness team, product medical affairs teams, and commercial teams across Lilly. They will develop clear strategic framework / structure to guide teams through novel diagnostic launches in support of patient identification as well as work collaboratively with subject matter experts in CBDD/CDL, product medical affairs, commercial teams, corporate affairs and regulatory to develop and execute diagnostic strategies appropriate for relevant Lilly Medicines across key markets. The role will drive awareness, acceptance, access, and utilization of diagnostic modalities required to identify patients for or monitor patients on Lilly Medicines while partnering closely with multiple stakeholders to gain strategic alignment on diagnostic priorities and execution (inclusive of budgets). This person will attract, grow, and lead a team of diagnostic subject matter experts to support Lilly Medicines across therapeutics areas, diagnostic modalities, and markets. Early focus of the role will be on NB and cardiometabolics commercial testing strategies and genetic medicines where environment shaping strategy and practice changing work is already needed.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Apply detailed understanding of Diagnostic Commercialization to ensure Lilly maximizes appropriate patient identification for its Medicines.
  • Provide expert advice on partner selection, study design, content of education and selection of partner organizations.
  • Contribute to the development of an integrated diagnostic strategy across all assets and modalities through data driven insights.
  • Support conceptualization of commercial tactics to increase access to diagnostics in partnership with Commercial team and NPP.
  • Areas of focus will be on partner selection, engagement of appropriate vendors/consultants and design of compliant and effective programs.
  • Effectively, rigorously and accurately review and develop talent. Proactively address development needs.
  • Partner with Dx development colleagues to develop medical education and co-commercialization strategies
  • Develop future proof diagnostic strategies that incorporate the latest insights and knowledge to support the adoption of patient identification for Lilly Medicines across the globe.
  • Ensure projects are adequately resourced and prioritized to deliver on objectives and ensure launch success.
  • Eliminate barriers and silos that inhibit collaboration across departments, and foster a culture of open collaboration, communication and transparency.
  • Clearly communicate and articulate the diagnostic strategy to stakeholders and regularly report on portfolio progress.
  • Examples diagnostic commercialization work might include:
    • Long lead-time initiatives, such as:
      • Guideline shaping
      • Evidence Generation
      • Publication Strategy (e.g., head to heads, collaborative research)
      • Disease state education
      • Participation in consortia
      • Gathering Insights from Key Opinion Leaders, both internally and externally
    • Peri-launch initiatives, such as:
      • Education of field force
      • Field tactics
      • Co-commercialization contracts with IVD partners, inclusive of tactics such as education, training, etc.
      • Assessing and planning for Market access and coding changes
      • Contracting and Implementing Sponsored testing programs
      • Organizing Patient referral programs
      • Assessing and purchasing of commercial datasets
      • Co-promotion activities with IVD partners
      • Educational activities with Medical Societies, such as the College of American Pathology or the Association for Molecular Pathology.
Required Qualifications and Background:

Required:
  • MS degree in relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in diagnostics/CDx
Additional Preferences:
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Proven success building and leading precision medicine/diagnostics teams to support innovative diagnostics strategy and planning, partnerships while driving commercial enablement and execution
  • Deep experience in US/global diagnostics marketing strategy business, business case development, driving commercial strategy, diagnostics, precision oncology, content strategy, healthcare marketing, and commercial
  • Proven success in building companion diagnostic partnerships, development, and global launch in support of patient identification

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $150,000 to $220,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate's qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
