Sr. Data Product Manager


12+ month contract


Location: Glendale, CA. Will need to be onsite 3-4 days per week.


Pay: $90/hour

Description


In this pivotal role, you will act as the liaison between business partners and the technology team, specializing as the subject matter expert for data products in various data domains. Leveraging a robust background in Data Analysis, Data Engineering, Product Ownership, Team Leadership, Stakeholder Management, and Business Analysis you will


manage internal platforms and insights, ensuring alignment with high standards and innovative spirit.




As a Data Product Manager, your role will be crucial in connecting data engineering and science with business strategy. You will manage the development of data- driven products that support the studio's business objectives. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that our data products add value for our business stakeholders. You will play a key role in building relationships across the company, including with source producers, business data partners, and application teams. Your leadership will guarantee that our data is reliable, high-quality, and consistently aligned with our business goals.



  • Define the vision and roadmap for data products based on market demands, business priorities, and data insights.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Disney Studios to identify, prioritize, and document business and informational needs, including acceptance criteria and success metrics.

  • Oversee the lifecycle of data products from concept to launch, including idea generation, validation, development, and deployment.

  • Work closely with executive leadership, data scientists, engineers, and analysts to ensure accurate data collection, processing, and modeling for enhanced decision-making.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and oversee the development process to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Monitor product performance and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, develop user stories, and define acceptance criteria.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to data management and product development.




Important to have:


1)Data Product experience is required


2)Proficiency with SQL


3)Data Governance is nice to have but not required


Snowflake or Databricks-this is not an engineering role but needs to have experience with either technologies




Basic Qualifications



  • Over seven years of experience in the data technology industry, primarily in roles focused on data engagement-from interpreting data to its precise application for business objectives.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, Data Analyst, or similar role in a data-driven environment.

  • Familiarity with data warehouse and data lake platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks, along with a foundational understanding of their operations."

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data architecture, and data warehousing principles.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and analytics platforms.

  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their applications in business.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Exceptional skills in navigating complex organizational structures and building relationships with stakeholders from various functional roles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
