The SCCC department is seeking a Central Cancer Registry Specialist identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients by using the appropriate registry data system. Additionally, the incumbent analyzes data and releases information while adhering to established ethical standards. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Identifies abstract and code pathology data from laboratories. 2. Manages cancer patient databases, recording information that may be used to help detect cancer earlier, improve treatments, and increase survival rates. 3. Examines medical and pathology records to determine patient eligibility for the cancer registry. 4. Assists with the abstracting of cancer cases from hospitals, and freestanding, ambulatory and radiation centers around the state. 5. Translates medical terminology into standardized codes that record the patient's diagnosis and treatment information. 6. Compiles and reports data from all the medical facilities that treat cancer patients. 7. Follows up with registry patients to track progress while protecting patient information. 8.
