We are seeking an experienced lighting salesperson to join our Specification Sales team.


About the Role


The Specification Sales Associate plays a vital role cultivating client relationships and architectural specifications related to commercial lighting needs. The ideal candidate will:

  • Build relationships with interior designers, architectural firms, engineers, and more.
  • Service clients' ongoing needs proactively and identify business opportunities.
  • Create strong specifications, including designing lighting plans as needed.
  • Gather market intelligence to provide value-added techical solutions while maintaining a key eye for design.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional personnel to support sales strategies.
  • Work closely with Quotes personnel to support negotiating and closing on commercial projects.
  • Stay informed on the latest product launches, industry trends, and technology to offer your clients the knowledge and level of service that meets their needs.

Where & How You'll Work


As a member of our sales team, you can expect a combination of days spent working remotely from home, in the Baltimore office, and on the road to varying client locations or events within your assigned territory in the MD and DC area.

Technically Speaking, You Have

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a goal-driven direct sales environment, in lighting or another related field
  • Knowledge of commercial lighting or commercial real estate industries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and enterprise resource planning (ERP) or customer relationship management (CRM) software

Must be comfortable with in-person customer responsibilities and substantial area travel (Role is best suited for a road warrior.) Note: Your driving record may be subject to review.


Bonus Points for Having

  • Experience in Outside Lighting Sales - extra bonus points if your experience is in the MD and/or DC markets.
  • The ability to read and understand technical and construction drawings
  • An associate degree in Science, Arts and/or Business Administration
  • Experience using Oasis ERP and/or HubSpot CRM systems

Note: Candidates with significant experience (10+ years) that can demonstrate a history (3+ years) of sustained high-level sales performance and a willingness to mentor more junior team members may be considered for a Senior level position.
