Responsibilities We currently have a great opportunity available for a Laboratory Specialist I RACA. The Laboratory Specialist in this role will work with the Regulatory and Clinical Affairs (RACA) Laboratory to support in-house studies, perform preventative maintenance and Quality Control of the laboratory equipment. The associate in this position will also support Clinical Studies performed off-site by assisting with the preparation of training materials. The Laboratory Specialist will work with the Technical Product Manager (TPM), Clinical Research Associates (CRA), and RACA Laboratory team to ensure equipment and supplies ship in a timely fashion to meet scheduled installation and training dates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Perform testing on prototype, investigational use, and on-market clinical laboratory instruments, software, reagents, and controls manufactured by Sysmex America Incorporated (SAI) and similar instruments and products. Adhere to established procedures, study-specific protocols, and timelines. Perform data upload and entry as needed.2. Evaluate the Investigational Use Only (IUO) instruments according to Instructions for Use (IFU) and package inserts. Learn to operate comparator and/or screening devices and confirmatory tests.3. Perform QC with appropriate frequency and evaluate results. Report shifts or trends to the Laboratory Manager. Perform and properly document preventative maintenance as scheduled to ensure equipment is operational.4. Have the ability to evaluate results, recognize problems, and initiate troubleshooting if necessary. 5. Monitor laboratory supplies (consumables, reagents, controls, chemicals, etc.) and alert the Laboratory Manager or designee when replacement is needed. 6. Assist in the preparation of Quick Guides, Work Instructions, and Study Logs for clinical and in-house studies. 7. Document receipt of and disposal of samples used in in-house studies. 8. Perform in-house sample collections.9. Follow all Sysmex policies for safety, environment, and infection control.10. Other duties, as assigned. Physical Risk: Regular exposures to risk that may require special training and precautions. Physical Demands: Light physical effort. Routine handling of objects up to 20 pounds; prolonged (at least 50% of time) sitting, standing, keyboard or CRT work. May require periods of moderate discomfort due to noise, dust, lighting and/or other conditions. Travel Percentage: 25% Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years laboratory experience required. ASCP certification preferred Detail oriented English Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interface effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internally and externally. Experience performing manual differentials. Phlebotomy experience. Detail-oriented with effective time management skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
