Special Prosecutions Section Deputies
Deputies in the Special Prosecutions Section are experienced trial attorneys who work independently in the prosecution of complex, multijurisdictional criminal cases. These cases include:
- Fraud
- AB1506 officer-involved fatal shooting incidents
- Fentanyl sales and transportation
- Organized retail theft
- Tax evasion and underground economy violations
- Human trafficking
- Political corruption
Section deputies coordinate with teams of legal, auditing, and law enforcement professionals and handle every stage of investigation and prosecution from referral to jury trial. They may also be tasked to assist multiagency task forces, such as the Tax Recovery in the Underground Economy (TRUE) task force, and other law enforcement agencies. Deputies are required to travel to fully participate in investigations and prosecutions in multiple jurisdictions and to respond to crime scenes.
