The DCIU has immediate needs for Special Education Teachers across all of our programs. The job of Teacher - Special Education was established for the purpose/s of providing an appropriate individualized program in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Minimum requirements: Valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education Dual certification in special education and content area(s) preferred Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer and computer programs Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Possess excellent interpersonal and team building skills Possess strong organizational skills Ability to function independently Flexible and reliable Experience working with students with special needs preferred Openings available for the following classrooms: K-2 Autistic Support (Broomall) Middle School Autistic Support (Broomall) Secondary Autistic Support (Broomall) Emotional Support (Aston) Secondary Emotional Support (Middletown, PA) Please note that prior to being offered a position with DCIU all clearances must be on file.
