Space RCO Satellite Assembly Integration and Test Engineer (Top Secret) KBR is searching for a satellite assembly integration and test (AI&T) engineer to support development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. This handpicked candidate must possess technical expertise and experience providing government customer insight during design, manufacture, integration, test and launch phases. Responsibilities will include oversight of various contractor I&T activities, identifying and resolving technical issues and influencing contractor efforts to successfully deliver satellites for on orbit operations. Additionally, the candidate will oversee and advise government program management on integration across full spectrum of interfaces, to include coordination with multiple mission partners. In this position, you will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO). The SpRCO program office, located at Kirtland AFB, NM, is a small, streamlined organization with dedicated, organic acquisition support functions: contracting, financial management, human resources, security, program management and technical engineering support that are critical in enabling the rapid response required for classified space programs. The mission is to develop and deliver operationally dominant space capabilities at the speed of warfighting relevance in response to Commander, U.S. Space Command requirements. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. AI&T Engineer Principal Duty You will work in a small, highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program. Responsibilities span technology domains including space rated hardware, software, sensors, in an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment. This SETA candidate will provide in-depth background on satellite vehicle bus and/or subsystem assembly, integration and testing to improve program office insight into state-of-the art IC, DoD, commercial and legacy space vehicle systems. You must apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also effectively communicating complex results with management and executive leadership. SETA Role and Responsibilities: Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, satellite subsystems developers, and other subject matter experts
Identify risks, issues and solutions during spacecraft integration build flow and test operations
Evaluate proposed satellite designs for manufacturability and integration
Review, assess and evaluate contractor satellite assembly, integration and test plans and procedures
Perform test engineering and requirements flow down assessment on satellite level test plans, procedures and reports
Provide analysis support on satellite test results to verify the satellite design satisfies the system requirements
Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create trackable risk items and advise on solutions and improvements
Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) to adjudicate and resolve anomalies by direct fact finding, audits, inquiries, and investigations of processing, testing, or operational failures
Monitor compliance to interfaces and standards, and appropriate deviations/waivers are in place
Oversee and advise government program management on integration across full spectrum of interfaces, to include coordination with multiple mission partners
Produce documentation, reports in support of design, development, production, and testing
Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy-oral and written
Qualifications Required skills: Minimum five (5) years DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience
Understanding of space operational environment and corresponding mission user needs
Previous experience performing space system engineering, development, manufacturing, and test
Experience working hands-on with commercial and/or government satellite systems
Experience developing satellite test and requirements verification plans
Experience analyzing and developing contract data requirements lists and deliverables
Experience working satellite structural, mechanical, thermal, dynamics, propulsion, mass properties
Desired skills: Five (10) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience with SAP and/or SCI
System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office
Previous experience as Chief Engineer for a large national security space program
Experience with rapid build, qualification testing both at system and component level
Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs
Experience leading satellite assembly, integration and testing for large space system
Familiarization with US Space Force, Space Systems Command, and IC partners
Education Desired Requirements: An applicable engineering degree from a program from an accredited course of study in engineering, preferably accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) though not required
Relevant MS/ME degree
Clearance: Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility (no less than 2 years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience, with 1-year total within last 5 years) and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph
Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment
Location/Travel Requirements: Full-time, on site in vicinity of Kirtland AFB, NM, and will require travel up to 20% of time within the continental United States KBR is an equal opportunity employer.
