Candidates will ONLY be considered if they live within a commutable distance radius not to exceed 100 miles from San Antonio. Fearless is looking for a Solution Architect to add to our diverse team of 250+ employees (and counting.). What you'll be doing We're looking to change the world by building software with a soul, and we want your help. As the senior most technical lead for Fearless' work with the US Air Force in San Antonio, you will play a critical leadership role in one of our most critical and fastest growing accounts. In this role, you will not only provide direct technical support to the customer, but play a major role in managing and deepening our understanding of their business and how Fearless can have a positive impact on the mission of the Air Force, specifically as it relates to Defensive Cyber Warfare. A deep level of understanding and passion for the security of the United States and the role our armed forces play in protecting IT infrastructure that is fundamental to the security of the United States is required to be successful in this role. The successful candidate will be one of two people with primary responsibility for growing this account by ensuring fearless delivers world class service and solutions to the Air Force. They will be the person with primary responsibility for the ability of the Fearless team supporting Air Force Defensive Cyber Warfare to think of, design, develop and implement technical solutions in support of their mission. The Solution Architect coordinates the technical aspects of all the development, architectural, operational, security, and testing activities for multiple project teams. They participate in a hands-on manner within a team and operate with the contextual knowledge of the full portfolio. They also help bridge the portfolio's broader goals with the technical implementation, helping to define, implement, and inspire adherence to the technical direction, processes, and standards for the portfolio. In addition to the specific technical skills identified below for this particular position, a proven track record of growing IT consulting business and building deep customer relationships is absolutely critical. Responsibilities and Contributions Organizational and Leadership Role Leads the portfolio's technical direction, working in close collaboration with the Practice Director(s) and Portfolio Director to align with the portfolio's strategy and vision. Leads the strategy for technical solutions and plans, navigating strict regulatory landscapes and addressing key risks and controls. Strengthens strategic relationships with peers, leaders, customers, users, and stakeholders, interfacing directly with our customers as a technical SME - This includes creating revenue growth opportunities for Fearless with incumbent customers. Guides the planning and development of new features in collaboration with Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to ensure alignment with the product vision. Through coaching and leadership, helps to grow the technical understanding of the stakeholders in the portfolio. Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives Functional Role Sets appropriate high-level architecture decisions, keeping in mind scale, portfolio strategy, and technical reusability. Understands the project's legacy systems and historical decisions and the impact it may create in the context of future systems and work. Skillfully defines project needs, consistently gathering appropriate breadth and depth of relevant data and drawing on a wide array of sources to assess and document the situation for the teams under their jurisdiction. Leads and empowers their teams by communicating and documenting the projects' technical visions. Has the technical understanding and domain knowledge needed to be able to swap, with appropriate context, between teams in a portfolio. Facilitates the agile process and grows customers' understanding of agile. Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies Must-Have Skills A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated related working experience. A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated direct experience working with Kubernetes. Holds active Secret Clearance or TS/SCI Experience working on federal government agency projects as a contractor or other Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, build relationships, and influence others. Ability to use an understanding of others to achieve desired outcomes and inspire action through shaping beliefs and behaviors Demonstrated ability to use appropriate breadth and depth of context and data to make sensible and timely decisions, and displays sound judgment when faced with opportunities and challenges Experience building prototypes to convey key concepts and approaches Ability to understand and respond to customer needs and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team. Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, Istio, and Helm Demonstrated application of cybersecurity principles and methods to software development. Deeply experienced in the following domains: Cloud infrastructure Cybersecurity Advanced ability to discuss abstract software development concepts and best practices in single-responsibility, cohesion, data immutability, and other paradigm-appropriate design patterns. Experience leading and supporting teams of Software Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, Test Engineers, and Data Engineers. Ability to develop product roadmaps, backlogs, and measurable success criteria to ensure effective product delivery. Demonstrated experience architecting, building, and deploying technical solutions that use multiple data stores targeting specific application use cases Demonstrated experience architecting the transformation and consolidation of major systems with common data stores, system security, API management services, business intelligence tools, reporting and visualization tools, and hosting and infrastructure requirements. Proficient in at least one programming language, such as Node.js, Python, Go, Java 8+, Ruby, or Bash. Experience across the entire development process, from conception to production operations. Knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns. Icing-on-the-Cake Skills BS/MS/M.Eng. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree. Holds a current CISSP, Security+, or other information security certification. Holds a current AWS Certified Developer Associate, Solutions Architecture Associate, or Solutions Architect Professional, or similar certification in another cloud platform. Experience with The Party Bus - Platform One, Cloud One, or other DOD-aligned platforms Experience with design thinking and human-centered design.
