Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services BGS, is seeking a Solutions Architect - Chief Software Engineer in Maryland Heights, MO. In this position, you will have an exciting opportunity to support Tapestry's MPS business, which is focused on serving as a trusted partner to our warfighter customers, providing exceptional software products and services to U.S. and foreign military defense organizations. We support next generation mission planning across multiple platforms including the F-22, F-15, F-18, MQ-28, Weapons Planning Software, and Tomahawk Cruise Missile. We also have a long legacy advancing the DoD's cornerstone logistics and command & control applications. This position is ideal for someone excited by the world of military aviation and logistics, and the challenge of helping the U.S. advance its mission planning and command & control capabilities. You will be a key player in leading our technical teams to ensure we are providing the best solutions for the customer and the business. This is a leadership position within the Mission Planning portfolio. Responsibilities of this position include providing architectural guidance to include scalable designs with a strong emphasis on containerization, performance and security. In this role, you will coach and mentor staff as you work cross-functionally to promote best practices, participate in proposal development and assess the impact of architectural decisions on the product lifecycle. Additionally, you will consult in several key areas including; design constraints, feasibility of architecture solutions and alternatives, industry standards and trade-off analyses. Ultimately, you will evaluate products to assess suitability for integration into delivery system environments. Position Responsibilities: Establishes architecture principles, rules and guidelines and contributes to establishing industry-wide architecture principles, rules and guidelines that provide a basis for consistent architecture decisions and practices.
Applies and develops highly advanced technologies, systems engineering principles, theories and concepts as well as highly advanced job practices, techniques and standards (e.g., patterns, frameworks, layered definitions) into project and program architectures. Identifies and communicates industry changes that could impact the formulation of value propositions.
Identifies innovative or more mature technical alternatives or refinements of evaluation criteria for utilization by projects.
Consults on trade-off analyses using advanced form, fit and function criteria.
Serves as Technical Expert regarding software development processes and process improvement initiatives across the organization including CMMI L3 & ISO certifications.
Is recognized as a company and industry expert.
Mentors and trains software engineers.
Consults on the establishment of system design constraints to ensure integration and compliance with architecture principles and directions. Recognizes the need or opportunity for the evolution of principles, frameworks and standards.
Designs and builds complex systems and components through the application and development of advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts as well as advanced job practices, techniques, and standards.
May represent company technology requirements to industry standards entities, establish industry information technology standards, and/or participate in national and/or international standards committees.
Assist teams with setup and implementation of DevSecOps practices, construction of pipelines and usage of industry standard tools for automation.
Performs other duties as assigned. This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite Maryland Heights, MO. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. We will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 10+ years software design and architecture experience
Microservice architecture, containerization and container orchestration (Kubernetes) within cloud based deployments
Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Scrum Methodology
UI/UX design experience with Single Page Applications (SPAs) build on industry standard frameworks
DevSecOps, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and able to provide teams with secure application design principles Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): C , C , Java, Typescript, .NET framework - programming environment highly desired
Understanding of microservice architecture, REST services, containerization, container orchestration, etc.
Experience in Linux and Windows environments
JMPS Technologies, Mission Planning, CNS/ATM, CAT Airdrop Technologies familiarity and/or experience
Simulation and Modeling domain knowledge and experience
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and approaches to a variety of audiences, ranging from inexperienced developers to Government technical advisors/leaders
Experience teaching, training and mentoring technical professionals
Certifications desirable (e.g. AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, etc.) Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD years' related work experience, Master years' related work experience).
